Renovation-expansion of the Vocational school Pinkafeld

Investment in the school location Pinkafeld

The building of the Vocational school Pinkafeld was getting older, both the workshops for the metal-technical teaching trades as well as for the car technicians no longer corresponded to the current state of the art and showed rough construction defects. BELIG (Beteiligungs- und Liegenschafts GmbH) was commissioned to renovate and expand the workshops. The planning office was taken over by architects eep-architekten ZT-GmbH. 8,7 million euros were invested in the school location Pinkafeld and thus a clear sign for the revaluation of the teaching set.

Construction work

In spring 2015 the construction work was started in coordination with the Federal Department of Architecture. The carpentry was reduced in size, the free surfaces of the metalworking were made available. The teaching area with the laboratories was housed in the quiet attic storey and the new staircase was equipped with a lift so that each level could be reached without barriers.

Light construction

A two-storey light construction (steel-wood construction) was implemented between the protected monuments to be preserved. The master builders were commissioned by Kremnitzer Betonwerk Ges.m.b.H. and the timber construction works of Kager Holzbau GmbH. During the first construction phase, a steel structure with outfitting wood elements (solid wood or wooden beam constructions) was constructed on both floors. The second building section was built on the ground floor as a pure timber construction and only in the attic with a steel support structure.
