Nursery Bad Sauerbrunn

General information

The spa town Bad Sauerbrunn built a new nursery. In case of being fully operational, the new two-storey building offers space for 180 children, who are divided into five nursery group rooms and three crèches. Besides these rooms, the new nursery is equipped with two exercise rooms, a studio, a multifunctional room and a therapy room. In addition to the 1,800 m² indoor space, the property provides a 3,200 m² play area outdoor.


The demolition of the old nursery and the construction of the new building were completed within the total construction period of 14 months. During the duration of the construction work, the nursery was relocated to a container facility. The new nursery was erected as a solid construction. To minimise the construction period, prefabricated hollow wall elements and element ceilings were used. An energy-efficient building, which is state of the art, was created by using highly thermally insulated components to implement a thermal building envelope as well as a triple thermal insulation glazing. The building is also furnished with an ecologically sustainable district heating system and a photovoltaic system. The acoustic comfort of the rooms was optimised by suspended wooden lamella ceilings, which are designed to suppress noise.


The client handing over the project was the municipality of Bad Sauerbrunn. The project was implemented by the Oberwarter gemeinnützige Bau-, Wohn- und Siedlungsgenossenschaft geg. GenmbH. The PT-Projekte ZT OG was in charge of the architecture. The Woschitz Engineering ZT GmbH was responsible for the entire structural design and the energy design. The complete planning regarding the building physics was done by the RWT plus ZT GmbH.
