Sustainable new building of the football academy Burgenland in Mattersburg
The football academy Burgenland is one of the most modern football academies in Europe with two artificial grass courts, four natural grass courts, a sprint hill, a press box and a building with about 3,500 square meters of floor space. Football fields and buildings blend well into the landscape on several levels on a hill just west of Mattersburg.
The building of the academy, together with the connected, covered visitor’s gallery, forms the framework for the outdoor area. The rising level is used here to develop different zones at ground level. In the lowest area are the cloakrooms, therapy rooms and a spacious fitness center. At the same level you reach the main court and the later planned hall. One floor upstairs, on the ground floor, there are the main entrance, cafeteria with kitchen, seminar rooms and office wing, above that two storeys with rooms for pupils and carers. These are linked via galleries and form spacious lounges.
Sustainability was the focus
During the planning special attention was paid to the sustainability of the plant. The complex irrigation is managed by a pond, which is fed by groundwater and rainwater. The building is supplied with energy via biomass in combination with solar cells.
