Facade ESO Garching
The three round components are connected by circular segments to a structure, resulting in convex and concave areas for the facade construction. The distinctive Zacken façade is a double-shell, two-storey elemental facade, which follows the outer contour of the building in a polygonal manner. The sunscreen is integrated between the two shells, the outer can be opened for cleaning purposes. In the narrow sides of the individual spikes ventilation wings are arranged.
The four round courtyards were also designed with two different facade types. Courtyard House “A” and “C” have a polygonal façade with aluminum profiles in elemental construction, while a polygonal wooden post-and-beam construction has been erected in the two small courtyards in the transitional area between the houses.
