Bahnorama – Vienna central station

“Bahnorama” is a 66.7 metre high timber tower construction with a viewing platform at 41 metres high which is accessed by visitors via two external panoramic elevators. The entire timber construction was realised with a uniform laminated timber beam section of 20/20 cm. The six vertical columns consist of six individual beams and reduce in number to the top. The horizontal beams are made up of three and four parts. The timber construction is stabilised by the crossing of steel rods. The “Infobox” is a two-storey exhibition building in timber construction. The concept of small individual sections is continued in the form of four-part columns 4×20/20cm and three-part beams 3×20/48cm. Timber frame elements form the flat components for the ceiling and building shell.
