Knowledge exchange of wood experts
The WCTE (World conference of Timber Engineering) is a world conference on timber construction, where scientific experts from all over the world come together to explore the various possibilities of wood as a building material. For the first time, the conference would have taken place in Chile, South America, but due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, the event could only be held virtually.
The topics offered in the seminars and lectures deal with wood from various disciplines such as engineering, construction, architecture, design and forestry, with a focus, among others, on the sustainable management of forests, the impact on buildings, process innovations and new building materials.
Under the title “Contemporary wooden buildings in Vienna, Austria: focus on social housing and private showcase projects” a virtual lecture was held together with Em.o.Univ.Prof. DDI Wolfgang Winter and DI Dr. techn. Richard Woschitz, MRICS. Afterwards the worldwide questions were answered together. Due to the corona situation, attendance at congresses is unfortunately difficult to achieve. Therefore, we consider it very important not to let the exchange of knowledge succumb to the restrictions and are glad that we could share our expertise online. Also, the high number of listeners confirms the success of WCTE 2020.
