Topping out ceremony at the Vienna West High / 1140 Vienna
The structural work is right on schedule! On 02.03.2017 the topping at the new Vienna West High was celebrated and currently finishing works are carried out in the building of reinforced concrete.
At a portion of the area of the former Biedermann-Huth-Raschke barracks at the address Steinbruchstraße 1140 Vienna they are building, by already successful resettlement of the armed forces, a new gymnasium with the focus on sports.
On behalf of the Federal Real Estate Company (BIG) the school is build after plans of der WORK GROUP VIENNA WEST HIGH, consisting of SHIBUKAWA EDER ARCHITECTS and F+P ARCHITEKTEN ZT GMBH, based on a competition realization gained from the 2014. On the former areal of barracks were four buildings, two of them were demolished. The extensions will be open and designed with a lot of open space for cooperative, open learning and good usability of the open space. 34 classes, special classrooms and the administration will be accommodated on about 13.000m². Two buildings of the former barracks – the riding stable and the team building – are listed buildings, will be rehabilitated and functionally integrated into the overall architectural concept.
After a sucessful groundbreaking ceremony in april 2016 completion is scheduled by December 2017, so that in autumn 2018 the first pupils can move into the new building.
