New classrooms for elementary school and secondary school in the Landsteinergasse and Wiesberggasse
On July 22, 2020, the topping ceremony of the elementary school Landsteinergasse and secondary school Wiesberggasse took place. In order to cover the need for additional classrooms, the schools will be expanded, raised and generally renovated.
In the Hans-Christian-Andersen-elementary school in Landsteinergasse, three new classes are created by an attic extension. The secondary school in Wiesberggasse will be increased by two floors and three new classes, a workroom and a teaching kitchen will be added. At the same time, a general refurbishment of both schools will be carried out as part of the school refurbishment package of the City of Vienna. The construction work was started on schedule in May 2019. The project will be completed at the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year. After completion, the primary school will consist of 16 classes and the new secondary school will have 14 classes.
RWT plus ZT GmbH was commissioned with the structural design, building physics and test engineering activities for the project. The celebration was attended by architect DI Christine Diethör, school director Julia Gaspar, education councillor Jürgen Czernohorszky, district manager Franz Prokop, WIP managing director Andreas Meinhold. From RWT plus were Prok. DI Dietmar Ronach, Markus Steinwender, MSc and Marco Fruhmann, BSc on site.
