Competition Neues Landgut D12 won
Together with the team of ÖSW, the architects Dietrich Untertrifaller, PLOV Architects, Simma Zimmermann Landscape Architects, Agency for Culture and Urbanity art:phalanx, we won the developer competition Neues Landgut D12.
By 2026/27, the new “Neues Landgut” neighborhood with around 1500 new apartments is to be built near Vienna’s main train station. An education campus is also to be built. Under the title B.R.I.O., the team has developed a social, ecological and economic sustainable project with 176 subsidized apartments for construction site D12. The apartment mix includes 88 smart apartments, family apartments and floor plans suitable for shared apartments. It also addresses the needs of single parents. The B.R.I.O. living module offers different apartments, from the small 1.5-room apartment to the spacious 4-room family apartment. Floor-to-ceiling glazing, loggias and balconies extend the living space to the outside.
The apartments will be built using a timber hybrid element construction and the sustainable timber construction method can save around 20% of CO2, compared to a conventional reinforced concrete building. The facades as well as the roofs are greened, which serves as cooling against the summer heat.
Our office is proud to have made a sustainable contribution to the wood hybrid resource in this residential building and thus to a very good ecological balance.
